"Rakott Krumpli" Hungarian specialty
This is one of my favorite Hungarian recipes that has been passed down in my family for generations. Rakott Krumpli is a Hungarian dish that consists of potatoes, sour cream, sausage and eggs. It is prepared as a casserole, with the ingredients piled on top of each other. It is perfect for cold winter days and always a hit at family gatherings.
Ingredients

Directions
1.to prepare Rakott Krumpli first peel the potatoes and cut them into 1 cm thick slices. I recommend to use waxy potatoes, because they keep their shape better during baking.
Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salty water until they are soft but not falling apart. This usually takes about 15 minutes.
While the potatoes are boiling, hard boil the eggs.
Cut the sausage into thin slices. You can use any kind of smoked sausage, but I prefer Hungarian kolbasz.
When the eggs are hard boiled, rinse them with cold water and peel. Then cut into slices.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C while you prepare the baking dish.
Grease the baking dish with butter so that nothing sticks.
Now layer the ingredients in the baking dish: start with a layer of potatoes, followed by a layer of eggs and a layer of sausage. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used up and finish with a layer of potatoes on top.
Cover the whole evenly with sour cream. This gives the casserole a creamy texture and intensifies the flavor.
Bake the Rakott Krumpli Casserole in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, until lightly browned on top and the baking creates a wonderful aroma.
