Quick and easy Smelt fish recipe
Lightly coated in a seasoned flour mixture and gently cooked, this pan-fried smelt recipe comes together quickly and is so delicious as an appetizer or main with your favourite side. Don’t forget a squeeze of lemon when enjoying!
Ingredients
Smelt fish
- 1⁄2 teaspoon Chilli Powder
- whole green chilli pepper
- 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 medium size Onion Thinly sliced
- coriander
- tomato
- Lemon sliced
- to taste salt
- 2 Cooking oil tblspn
Fish Marinate
- 1 teaspoon self-rising flour
- to taste salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1⁄2 teaspoon Chilli Powder

Directions
In a fry pan heat oil pretty hot then add smelt fish and fry one side for 5 min in a medium heat then lower heat to flip other sides..
Fry rest of the smelt fish 10 min .. take out once it’s done and place on a plate.
Add onion in a same oil stir and cook for 5 min then add salt.. cook it till golden brown. add green pepper stir after 3 min add turmeric 1/2 tsp and chilli powder 1/2 after 5 min add tomato stir and cook for 10 min medium heat.
Add lemon sliced then add fry smelt fish and garnish with cilantro. Serve with rice and Enjoy!
