How to make Simple Cheesy Cheddar Cheese Straws
Cheese straws are a perfect savory snack for a cheese-lover. These crispy, cheesy delights make an excellent partner to a glass of wine or a cold beer. Plus, they're easy to prepare, requiring only a handful of ingredients. Serve them at your next party, or enjoy them as a solo snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 200 gms of sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 200 gms of butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tbls of cold water

Directions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the flour, cheddar cheese, butter, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix until the ingredients are well combined.
Add cold water to the mixture gradually, stirring until a dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 5 to 6 times.
Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut the dough into thin strips.
Place the strips onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow the straws to cool completely before serving.
