Italian Beef Ragu with Sauce and Pasta
Ragu is a rich and hearty Italian meat in sauce traditionally served with pasta. Its savory flavors and tender meat make it a perfect comforting meal
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef
- 1 lb sausage
- 1 finely chopped medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrots, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 Cup beef broth
- 1⁄2 Cup red wine (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tbls olive oil

Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery for 5 minutes or until the vegetables begin to soften.
Add the ground beef and sausage to the pot. Brown the meat, breaking it with a spoon. Drain any excess fat from the pot.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, and red wine (if using). Mix well to combine.
Add the oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to incorporate the spices into the sauce.
Turn heat to low. Let the ragu simmer for an hour to let flavors meld together, stirring occasionally.
Serve ragu over your favorite pasta, cooked according to package instructions.
Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy!
