Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a dish.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté till translucent and fragrant.
Add the mushrooms and celery to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender, approximately 5-7 minutes.
Sprinkle in the thyme leaves and dried sage, mixing well to combine. Season with salt and pepper according to taste.
Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the mushroom mixture to a large mixing bowl. Add the bread cubes to the bowl gently until the bread is coated with the mushroom mixture.
Slowly pour the broth over the bread mixture, stirring continuously until all the liquid is absorbed.
Transfer the stuffing mixture into a prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving with your favorite main dish.
