Directions
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.
Grease the pan with non-stick spray and melt the butter over medium heat. Add molasses and sugar and bring to a boil, then turn off the heat.
Gradually stir in the flour.
Carefully place the dough on the floured surface and work the dough. Once all the remaining flour is incorporated, shape the dough into a 30-centimetre log and cut it into 3 portions, setting aside 1 piece slightly larger than the others for the roof.
Return the smaller pieces of dough to the pan and put the lid on.
On the floured surface, roll out the dough into a thick rectangle.
Using the house templates, cut out the 2 roof pieces and place them on a baking sheet.
Roll out the rest of the dough and cut out the front, back and sides of the house using the templates. Place on a baking sheet.
Bake the gingerbread house pieces for 15 minutes or until they have hardened and baked. Allow cooling completely.
In a large bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy.
Gradually beat in the icing sugar until the icing is smooth and thick.
Assemble the house with the icing. Once set allow to dry.
Decorate the house with more icing and decorations of your choice. Enjoy!
