Gourmet Classic Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls
These Gourmet Sausage Rolls are a step up from the traditional sausage roll recipe. Made with high-quality pork and a mix of herbs and seasonings, these flavorful, flaky pastries are perfect as lunch items, appetizers, or party favorites. Once you try a taste of these carefully crafted gourmet sausage rolls, a plain old sausage roll just won't cut it.
Ingredients
- 500 gms of high-quality pork sausage meat
- 1 finely chopped medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 letters puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg for glaze
- Poppy or sesame seeds for topping

Directions
Preheat your oven to 200 C (400 F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat, onion, garlic, parsley, sage, and thyme. Season with the salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Lay out your puff pastry sheets and divide your sausage mixture into six equal parts.
Shape each portion of the sausage mixture into a log, and place each down the center of each puff pastry sheet.
Fold over the pastry, tuck the ends in, and seal with a little bit of the beaten egg.
Once sealed, brush the tops of each sausage roll with more of the beaten egg and sprinkle with either poppy or sesame seeds.
Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking sheet at least 2 inches apart.
Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
Allow to cool for a few minutes before cutting each length into six pieces. Enjoy!
