How to prepare the original Sicilian pizza?
A nice thick doughy pizza with a golden crust. This pizza makes for a great party dish as you can make several quite easily.
Ingredients
- 375 g hot water
- 10 g fine sea salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon instant dried yeast
- 500 g self-rising flour
- 1⁄2 Cup olive oil
- tomato sauce
- cheese
- Toppings

Directions
In a large bowl, add the water and salt. Then, add the yeast and let sit for a few minutes.

Add the flour and mix by hand. Let rest and cover 20 minutes.

Knead the dough for about a minute. Form into a ball, coat with olive oil and cover for 4 hours.

Spread olive oil on a baking pan. Take the dough out and place it on the baking sheet. Then, place the dough, covering the entire baking pan.

Spread sauce on top of the dough and place the pan on top of pizza steel. Bake at 550 degrees for 10 minutes.

Take out of the oven. Sprinkle grated cheese or your favourite topping. Place back in the oven and bake for 15 minutes until the bottom is a nice golden colour and the cheese is melted and browned in spots.
