Homemade Barbecue Hamburger Hot Dog
These Hamburger Dogs are absolutely yummy, fun to make and my family's favorite, especially on family barbecue parties.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 slices of cheese
- Lettuce, tomatoes and pickles for topping
- salt and pepper to taste
- Ketchup and mustard
- 1 Onion (optional)
- 4 slices of bacon (optional)

Directions
Start by shaping the ground beef into 4 hot dog shapes. Be sure to get them as smooth and even as possible for even cooking. Remember, the best way to shape the burger is using damp hands, it keeps the meat from sticking.
Season the 'hamburger dogs' with salt and pepper. This is a crucial step. Never underestimate the power of salt and pepper. They bring out the real taste of the beef.
Optional step: Wrap each of them with a slice of bacon. Securing it with a toothpick. Bacon gives it a smokey flavor which complements the taste of the beef.
Grill the burger-dogs over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until they are fully cooked. A word of advice, don't rush the cooking process. Let it cook at its own pace in order for it to achieve maximum deliciousness.
As they are getting ready, prepare the buns by placing a slice of cheese in each. Then toast them lightly on the grill.
Once done, place the grilled burger-dogs in the prepared buns. Put your desired amount of lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and onions.
Serve immediately.
