Easy Homemade Greek Yiros Recipe
Make traditional gyros with pork meat, pita bread, and tzatziki sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 kg pork neck
- 2 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 30 ml apple vinegar
- 30 ml olive oil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cumin
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 50 ml white wine
- butter
- 1 tomato

Directions
Cut up the meat and beat lightly. Chop one onion, and mix with apple vinegar, olive oil, oregano, salt, paprika, cumin, minced garlic, pepper, and white wine. Add the meat in, and rub it in the sauce. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 24 hours. Then bring to room temperature for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a pan with aluminium foil and baking paper. Place the other onion in the middle, and put three skewers in it. Put the meat on the skewers.

Add some butter and tomato halves on top.

Wrap it with the baking paper and then the aluminium foil. Bake for 3 hours. Then remove from the wrappers, and bake at 230 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.

Cut the meat up, and bake for 10 more minutes. Serve with pita bread, onion, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. Enjoy!
