Bake gingerbread men
These gingerbread men have been a firm tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Not only do they get us in the festive spirit during the Christmas season, but they are also irresistibly delicious. They take a little time and patience to make, but the most valuable thing about baking these little men is the fun we have making them!
Ingredients
- 500 g self-rising flour
- 250 g With
- 100 g sugar
- 150 g butter
- 1 egg
- 1 TL baking soda
- 1 TL baking soda
- 2 TL gingerbread powder
- 1 Pinch salt
- 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
- Food coloring for the decoration

Directions
To bake gingerbread men, first melt the honey, sugar and butter in a medium saucepan over a medium heat, stirring constantly until a smooth syrup forms. This step is important to ensure that the ingredients are well combined. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
In a separate large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, gingerbread spice, salt and cocoa. I recommend sifting the dry ingredients through a sieve so that there are no lumps and everything is evenly distributed.
Add the honey mixture and the egg to the flour mixture and mix to form a smooth dough. Knead the crumbs together to form a firm cake dough and leave it to rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This improves the texture of the gingerbread and makes it easier to roll out.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm on a floured work surface and cut out with gingerbread man shapes. Press the remaining dough together again and again and roll out again.
Place the gingerbread men on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes until golden brown and firm.
Once they have cooled completely, the gingerbread men can be decorated with food coloring as desired. I enjoy being creative and giving each man his own personality!
