Roasted pork neck with cabbage and dumpling
A traditional Slovak recipe that will delight every lover of home cooking.
Ingredients
Bacon
- 1 kg scrag-end
- 4 spoons oil
- 1 piece onion
- 2 pcs garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Cabbage
- 1 pcs cabbage
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions
Preheat the oven to 180°C. While the oven is preheating, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the pork neck and brown it on all sides until golden.
Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until they are soft and golden. Season with salt and pepper.
Transfer the chicken to the baking dish and roast it in the oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the meat is completely tender.
While the pork neck is roasting, start preparing the cabbage. Cut the cabbage into thin strips.
In a pot over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the cabbage and fry until it is soft and golden brown. Add sugar and vinegar and roast it for a few more minutes.
