Directions
Preheat your grill or stove top on medium heat.
Parboil the German sausages or bratwursts in a saucepan for about 5 minutes. Once done, remove from water and let them dry.
Place sausages on the heated grill or stovetop. Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are browned evenly and cooked throughout.
While the sausages are cooking, preheat your hot dog buns. You can either put these directly on the grill or in an oven similar to preheating. It should be done in about a minute. Be careful not to burn them.
Once sausages are cooked, place each one in a preheated bun.
Now, top each hot dog with a heaping of sauerkraut, a teaspoon of mustard, a bit of horseradish (if using), and garnish with sliced dill pickles.
Finish them off with a bit of salt and pepper to taste.
Serve your German Hot Dogs hot and enjoy this savory taste of Germany at home.
