Easy Yellow Rice

Ingredients
- 1 Cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley or cilantro (optional)

Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, water, turmeric powder, cumin powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.
Cook the rice for 15-20, or until the water has been fully absorbed and the rice is tender.
While the rice is cooking, heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. minced garlic and chopped onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes, or until the onion is soft. Once done, remove it from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork and then stir in the garlic onion mixture.
Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro, if desired. Serve warm.
