Easy Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 Cup of granulated sugar
- 6 tbls of unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1⁄2 Cup of heavy cream (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon of flakey sea salt

Pour the sugar into a saucepan over medium heat and continuously stir it using a wooden spoon. The sugar will begin to form clumps and eventually melt into a thick amber-coloured liquid as you continue to stir.
As soon as the sugar is completely melted, add the butter. The mixture will vigorously bubble when the butter is added.
Stir the butter into the caramel until it's completely melted. If you notice the butter separating, remove from heat and vigorously whisk to combine it back together.
Slowly stir in the heavy cream until the mixture is smooth, then allow the mixture to boil for one minute.
Remove from the heat, then stir in the sea salt.
Allow the caramel to cool down before using. It will thicken up while cooling.
