Easy Creamy Italian Parmigiana Sauce
A perfect go-to homemade Parmigiana Sauce gives you the chance to incorporate the delights of Italian cuisine in your everyday meals. Filled with the tangy taste of tomatoes, the aromatic flavour of basil, delightfully blended with creamy Parmesan cheese, this sauce is perfect for pasta, pizza or your favourite Italian dish.
Ingredients
- 2 tbls of olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1 can of crushed tomatoes
- A handful of fresh basil leaves, torn
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1⁄2 Cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1⁄4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and soft. This should take around 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until the garlic is fragrant.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes (if using), and basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
Reduce heat to low, cover the pan and let it simmer gently for about 20 minutes.
Don't forget to stir occasionally and make sure the sauce doesn't stick at the bottom of the pan.
After 20 minutes, remove the pan from heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it's fully incorporated into the sauce.
Your Parmigiana Sauce is ready to serve hot with your favorite dishes.
