Coffee liqueur homemade

If you want a really rich taste, try making it with a double shot of coffee. Make sure you keep your kitchen well ventilated from the fumes of the brewing process!

Directions

1. Step

Place a medium-sized pot on the stove. It is important not to use a pot that is too small, as the liquor can easily spill out when stirring. In my experience, it is best to use a medium sized stainless steel pot.

2. Step

In a pot, mix the sugar and instant coffee. Use the highest quality instant coffee possible, as this will determine the taste of the finished liqueur.

3. Step

Add about 200 ml water and boil on the stove until the sugar is completely dissolved. This preparatory step ensures that the sugar is completely dissolved in the vodka and evenly distributed to flavour it.

4. Step

Remove from the heat and leave to cool. It is important not to add the vodka when hot, as some of the alcohol may evaporate.

5. Step

When the coffee sugar mixture is lukewarm, add the vodka and vanilla pod. I recommend scraping out the inside of the vanilla pod and mixing it into the liqueur. This will intensify the vanilla flavour.

6. Step

Pour the finished liqueur into a bottle and let it stand for at least 2 weeks, but up to 1 month. This is when the flavour will really come together.
