Traditionally a falafel is made with soaked chickpeas however we want to speed up how we make one of our favourite snack. These are delicious to make. They will take 10 mins as 5 mins to put together and 5 mins to fry.

  • 800 ml can of cooked chickpeas Added to
  • 14 red onion Added to
  • 2 cloves garlic Added to
  • 20 g Fresh parsley/ coriander Added to
  • 2 tablespoon chickpea flour Added to
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin Added to
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander Added to
  • 14 teaspoon ground black pepper Added to
  • 14 teaspoon ground chili Added to
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda Added to
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Added to
  • 1 teaspoon salt Added to

Herby salad

  • 25 fresh coriander/ flat parsley Added to
  • 14 salad cucumber Added to
  • 14 red onion Added to
  • pinch salt Added to
  • 1 tablespoon oil Added to
  • 1 tablespoon pomegranate seeds Added to
  • 2 flat breads Added to
  • 150 g hummus Added to
  • chili sauce Added to

Directions

1. Step

Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Peel the onion and garlic and finely dice.

2. Step

Add both the chickpeas, onion and garlic to the food processor along with the rest of the ingredients. Pulse until they come together but not too much as you want to ensure to keep some texture.

3. Step

Remove from the food processor and add to a large bowl. Taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking, add more spices if you prefer a hotter falafel.

4. Step

Shape the falafel into small balls using your clean hands. Its important that you compress them so that they stay together when cooking.

5. Step

Heat a Non stick pan on high heat and add 3 tbsp of oil, once hot carefully add the falafels and fry on each side until nice and golden brown

6. Step

For the herby salad just finely dice the onion, cucumber and herbs. Mix together with the oil and salt and season to your taste.

7. Step

Serve on a flat bread with hummus, with the herby salad and some chilli sauce.Enjoy!
