Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with baking paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, softened butter, milk, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, and eggs. Beat the ingredients on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high speed for about 2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting by beating the softened butter until it’s creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Add milk as needed until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
Once the cakes are completely cooled, apply a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, then place the second cake layer on top. Spread the rest of the frosting on the top and sides of the cake.
Serve the cake at room temperature. Enjoy a slice of this classic vanilla cake with a cup of coffee or tea!
